CLITORAL HOOD (Horizontal)

FYI:

The horizontal hood piercing is made through the pronounced vertical ridge of hood tissue usually 1/2" to 5/8" above the edge of the hood. The horizontal piercing does not usually pass under the hood itself. Some women do not have enough loose tissue to support a horizontal piercing. The clitoris and hood tend to retract when standing which in some cases can make a horizontal piercing uncomfortable; the position of the piercing and the ring dimensions should be selected accordingly. Placement of the piercing and selection of the ring dimensions are usually made so that the bead rests on the tip of the clitoris. Women with a narrow pubic area and/or large outer labia or whose thighs compress the pubic area when she walks sometimes find this piercing uncomfortable because the ring may twist when standing or walking.

INITIAL JEWELRY:

Captive bead ring, circular barbell in 16 - 14 gauge and 3/8" - 1/2" inside diameter, depending on the width of the piercing and the desired location of the bead. The inside diameter should be at least 1/8" wider than the width of the piercing. Thicker gauges usually  feel more comfortable and will be less likely to pinch or tear after healing.
